Description
Spotlight inOncology
Spotlight inOncology is an electronic journal publication for healthcare professionals outside the USA and the UK, who are working in or interested in oncology. It contains reports form oncology meetings and congresses, feature articles, patient cases, interviews with experts, a congress calendar, and other updates in oncology. This is overseen by the Steering Committee, an international body of top oncologists, who have been selected for their high level of expertise, experience with publications in peer-reviewed journals, and their engagement in the field of oncology.
Spotlight inOncology is edited and published by Boehringer Ingelheim.
Spotlight inOncology – Issue 3
In this issue of Spotlight inOncology, we focus on a variety of aspects of lung cancer management, including the latest NSCLC research results from ASCO 2013, a report on multidisciplinary care from a lung cancer preceptorship at University Hospital Zurich, and a review of a website for lung cancer patients.
After another busy annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Oncology in Chicago, Gustavo Werutsky gives us his impressions of the meeting and Rainer Wiewrodt and Carlos Silva summarise their personal hot topics in NSCLC. These include immunotherapy, maintenance therapy, progress with therapies targeting EGFR and ALK and targeted therapies beyond EGFR and ALK.
We also report from a lung cancer preceptorship held at the University Hospital Zurich, chaired by Rolf Stahel and Walter Weder. Here, delegates experienced how cutting-edge clinical trial data is integrated into the treatment of NSCLC, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary treatment practices.
Finally, we review a website, Lifewithlungcancer.info, focussed on providing information and psychosocial support to lung cancer patients and caregivers and round up the upcoming oncology congresses.
